Ghana striker Derek Asamoah scored for the home side but Shaun Miller’s fine form continued as Morecambe came from behind to record a first Football League win over Carlisle on Saturday.

The striker’s two goals made it four in three games as The Shrimps got back to winning ways in League 2 with a first victory in five games.

Danny Grainger had given the hosts the lead but Miller turned out to be the match-winner with a brace either side of Tom Barkhuizen’s goal.

Derek Asamoah made things interesting with a goal in stoppage time but Morecambe held on for their second fine away win of the week.

It was flat opening however with the crowd woken by Asamoah’s 20-yard drive shortly after the quarter hour that was helped over the bar by Barry Roche.

It was end-to-end stuff though and the Cumbrians should have gone in front two minutes later but after Asamoah had pounced on Alex Kenyon’s back header the veteran was denied in on goal by a combination of Roche and Edwards.

Carlisle finished the game on the front foot and were rewarded for their efforts with Asamoah sweeping the ball home after Steven Rigg had flicked the ball on but it proved too little, too late.
