Kwame Karikari scored three goals as his Swedish top-flight club AIK Stockholm destroyed second tier club AFC United 5-0 in a friendly on Tuesday night.
The Ghanaian plundered the hat-trick to turnaround the dodgy pre-season form of the Swedish giants.
After a paltry two goals in five games, Karikari helped AIK to take off really took off in the match, reviving their hopes for the upcoming season.
Division 1 team AFC United (formerly Vasby United) had no chance in the training match on despite the Jets fielding a their best players in their line-up.
“They play in Division 1 but we took the game very seriously as we listened to our coach,” said Kwame Karikari, who scored two and converted a penalty in his first hat-trick of the Swedish top-flight.
“I have scored a hat-trick before in Africa and with the AIK junior team but not here in Sweden.
“For me it was important to score the hat-trick as I did not get as much chances in the matches in we played in the United States in the pre-season. So I wanted to work harder.
“I think this was good for me. In the last few games we lacked goals so I think this was good. But everything depends on the coach, I’ll just work hard.”
