Ghanaian forward Patrick Nyarko returned from suspension to provide an assist for Chicago Fire in their 2-2 draw against D.C United.
Jhon Kennedy Hurtadoââ¬â¢s 27th minute header and a late, 82nd minute strike from Quincy Amarikwa earned the Fire a share of the points at theà RFK Stadium in Washington D.C.
"More than anything the last game I played wasnââ¬â¢t very good and I contributed to the team negatively,â⬠Nyarko told Chicago-Fire.com
ââ¬ÅSince Iââ¬â¢ve been here, Iââ¬â¢ve always prided myself on helping this team win and produce positively. The game at Portland, that wasnââ¬â¢t me.ââ¬
Returning to the field against United, à Nyarko made amends for his sending off stretching the Unitedà backline before coming up with a clutch moment of brilliance he's come to be known for by nutmegging left back Cristian and finding Quincy Amarikwa for the gameââ¬â¢s equalizer in the 83rd minute.
The sixth-year Fire player earned his 33rd MLS assist, moving him to within two of Justin Mapp for fourth most in club history.
Beyond stats, Nyarko says he used the time off to work on his fitness level and also take a look a closer look at himself.
ââ¬ÅNot being involved in the last game and helping the team get more points, I had to think about where my mentality was,ââ¬
ââ¬ÅI canââ¬â¢t always control my health but when Iââ¬â¢m capable of playing and unable to help my team, thatââ¬â¢s disappointing and so that weighed on me the week of the home opener.ââ¬
Nyarkoââ¬â¢s return from his Portland nightmare should make Frank Yallopââ¬â¢s lineup decision for Saturdayââ¬â¢s home game against Philadelphia interesting.
