Newcastle will be monitoring the progress of Ghanaian youngster Gideon Adu-Peprah over the next two-years to see if he can fit in their first team.
The 17-year-old was signed by the Magpies in an off-radar summer swoop as a free agent from Manchester City.
The club signed the Ghanaian on a two-year contract to play with the youth team while keeping tabs on him to determine whether he is good enough to be promoted into the first team.
Adu-Peprah, a left-back who can also play in a central defensive role has made an instant impact with the U-18ââ¬â¢s to earn promotion into Newcastleââ¬â¢s U21 team.
He has already featured twice already under Peter Beardsley but came off with a knock in the 1-1 draw with Swansea earlier this week.
His injury is thought not to be serious as Newcastle struggle with options in the left-back position with the likes of Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummet all suffering from injury.
Adu-Peprah isnââ¬â¢t close to first team contention at the moment but has a two-year contract to show his worth at Newcastle.
