Ghanaian winger Ernest Asante got his Norwegian season to a flying start after scoring a brace for IK Start in a 4-2 reverse at champions Stromsgodset who had goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey pulling some excellent saves.

The 25-year-old scored in the 10th and 27th minutes to ensure Start ended the first-half with a 2-2 draw but Stromsgodset returned from the break to claim victory at the Marienlyst Stadion in Drammen.

Asante, a former Fetteh Feyenoord Academy graduate, stun the home fans when he cruised forward, to intercept an Adam Kwarasey pass to a team-mate and before firing past the Ghana goalkeeper.

Stromsgodset, featuring Mohammed Abu in midfield, drew level through Gustav Wikheim in the 16th minute but Asante rose to the occasion and restored his side's lead.

Espen Hoff moved into space and located an unmarked Asante who clinically finished off for his second goal of the game.

Asante's brace has helped him to be among top scorers of the Norwegian top-flight after the opening weekend.

Kwarasey's performances during the match will delight Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah as his agility prevented IK Start from scoring any further goals in the match.
