Ghanaian youngster Bernard Mensah was on the bench for Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães when they drew 0-0 with Gil Vicente in the Portuguese top-flight league on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was reward by Guimarães head coach Rui Vitória with a place in his 18-man squad for the game but he could not get the chance to mark his debut as his side shared the spoils with Vicente.

Mensah, who plays mainly for the club's team B, has enjoyed a blistering season with the  Guimarães II in the reserves league where he has scored 4 times from 16 games in midfield.

And while defender David Addy and Ghanaian-born Burkinabe international Nii Adama Plange were relegated to the second team, the youngster had his chance to be in the first team for the first time this season.

He is one of the few Ghanaian youngsters harnessing their talents in the European country.
