AFCON-bound Niger will be received by the country’s president Mahamadou Issoufou on Monday before they fly out to South Africa same day.

President Issoufou is expected to present the symbolic national flag for the Mena to defend with honour in South Africa.

On Sunday night in Niamey, goals from skipper Moussa Maazou, Mohamed Chikoto and Issoufou Boubacar gave Niger a heart-warming 3-1 win over fellow AFCON finalists Togo.

They have also lined up warm-ups in South Africa against Burkina Faso and Premier Soccer League side Platinum Stars.

This will be Niger’s second Nations Cup finals appearance after they made their debut in Gabon in 2012.

They lost all three group games, to co-hosts Gabon, Tunisia and Morocco.

In South Africa, they are in Group D along with Ghana, Mali and DR Congo.
