Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has apologised for missing a penalty in their Africa Cup of Nations exit to Zambia.
The Al Ain marksman spurned the chance to give the Black Stars an early lead in their semi-final clash when his spot-kick was saved by Kennedy Mweene.
The 26-year-old is also acutely aware he missed Ghana's extra-time penalty against Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup finals, a goal that would have secured progression to the semi-finals.

 cannot believe he has now missed two of the biggest penalties in the country's history, stating only he is sorry for failing to convert.
Apology
"I'd like to apologise to the fans," he told skysports.com.
"It's been very difficult for me. I'd never miss a penalty on purpose.
"It's now two of the biggest penalties in my country's history and it's difficult to take!
"I've been unlucky. We all miss them. Fans should know it's not easy. (Didier) Drogba missed in the final.
"(Samuel) Eto'o has missed before. It's happened to the greatest before, I'm sorry."
