Ghana winger Christian Atsu has opened fresh talks with FC Porto over a contract extension.

The Portuguese champions have offered a long term contract to the 20-year-old whose existing deal expires in 2014.

Atsu’s situation at Porto has put several interested European clubs on red alert after he turned down an initial contract extension offer.

English side Tottenham Hotspurs are the most talked of suitor with the prospect of the Ghana international reuniting with former coach Andre Villas-Boas at White Harte Lane.

They will however have to wait further as the budding star has opened fresh talks with Porto.

Atsu’s agent Saif Rubie is leading the talks for a suspected four-year extension which has a 10m euros buyout clause.

The amount is however well in the reach of the elite clubs in Europe who want to sign the Ghana international.

Porto are however reportedly pushing for a higher buyout clause figure with Atsu’s stock expected to rise while with the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
