Ghana's final squad for Nations Cup out? Jordan Ayew, Kingson excluded

Published on: 24 November 2011

Ghana's final 23-man squad for January's Africa Cup of Nations has already be drawn up and excludes Jordan Ayew and experienced goalkeeper Richard Kingson, a sports newspaper in the country claims.

Captivating Ghana Sports says is has seen coach Goran Stevanovic's list that excludes key player Michael Essien who is expected to recover before the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Bristol City winger Albert Adomah and newboys Jeffery Schlupp and Charles Takyi were also not included in the squad.

In-form players like Harrison Afful and Ishmael Yartey were also not included in the squad that the newspaper claims will be released by the coach on 15 December.

Despite the promises of including many local players in the squad, there was no outfield home-based players in the team.

In what looks like a credible squad, all the key players including Adam Kwarasey, John Paintsil, Isaac Vorsah and John Mensah were named in the squad.

Udinese duo of Kwadwo Asamoah and Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu as well as Sulley Muntari, Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan were named.

Apart from the 23-man squad, according to the report, five players were placed on the stand-by list and that includes: Harrison Afful, Albert Adoma, Jordan Ayew, Afriye Acquah and Richmond Boakye Yiadom.

With Stevanovic scheduled to release his team on 15 December it is only a matter of time before we will if the squad is right.
