Ghana's Group opponents Niger on $6,000-a-man AFCON bonus

Each player of the Mena of Niger will receive $6,000 if they win a group game at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Top officials informed MTNFootball.com that each player has received $4,000 as allowances before they departed Niamey for South Africa.

“The win bonus is $6,000 and if they draw, they will each get half of that amount,” Niger official Garba Lawali disclosed.

This win bonus is a fortune in the land-locked West African country, which is regarded as one of the poorest countries in the world.

Niger made their Nations Cup finals debut last year, but lost all three group games.

They are drawn at this tournament along with Ghana, Mali and DR Congo and open their campaign on Sunday against fellow West Africans Mali in Port Elizabeth.
