Ghana defender John Boye boosted his chances of playing for the Black Stars at the World Cup in June after he was named in the Rennes first team squad in the French top-flight on Saturday after recovering injury.

The central defender was named on the bench by the French club when they played against Ajaccio in the Ligue 1 match on Saturday.

This shows that he has recovered from the injury that kept him out of action for nearly three months following a thigh injury.

The 26-year-old was picked by Rennes manager Phillipe Montanier for his 18-man squad for the game but he did not start him the game for match fitness reasons.

Boye actually resumed playing in mid-January but was made to play with the Rennes U21 side as part of his recovery plan but he official returned to the squad and on Saturday.
