Video: Kingston admits Hearts stay may be over

Laryea Kingston admitted today that he may have played his last game for Hearts as he awaits contact from senior club officials regarding a contract extension.

The Ghanaian midfielder will now begin preparing for this summer's World Cup finals as part of MilovanRajevac's Black Stars squad.

He said he is unsure whether he will return to Tynecastle after the tournament with his current contract due to expire at the end of June.

"Normally I'm very happy to stay here but because of one or two things - they pormised me something would happen - I think it's the last game if nothing goes positive," said Kingston. "I'm still waiting for them. If something goes well then hopefully they will see me again.

"I've had difficult times but, honestly, I've enjoyed every moment I've been in a Hearts shirt, even when I had difficult times. I still believed I could enjoy myself here."

Kingston received a rapturous reception upon being substituted during the closing stages of Sunday's defeat to Celtic, acknowledging the recent improvement in his relationship with Hearts supporters.

"I'm very happy with that. When the fans were not happy with me I don't blame them because they knew one side of the story. They deserved to boo me or say anything to me because they knew one side of the story. They don't know my side. One party was saying everything and always talking and I kept quiet. During that period, I don't blame them.

"I still believe that, if I had my chance again, I would prove to them that I still love this club and I would give everything I have for this club."

Kingston is content to relegate club matters to the back of his mind as he anticipates one of the crowing moments of his career in South Africa.

Experiencing this World Cup will be all the sweeter for the 29-year-old in view of the suspension which rendered him a bystander four years ago in Germany.

"My season is not over," he told the Hearts website.

"Even last week I was doing extra training sessions and my team-mates would be laughing at me. I said to them, 'hey, my season is not over'. I have an important assignment in front of me, I have to stay fit and enjoy my football.

"It's a very important moment in my career because I missed the last World Cup, so this one is quite important for me. I believe God is going to be on my side and I'm going to work hard in training and friendly games and we will see what happens in the tournament."
