Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston is confident his former club Hearts will continue to grow despite being released by the Scottish side.
The playmaker refused to comment on his club future.
The World Cup bound enforcer, who played for Hearts in his home country, insists he thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club even though he fell out with previous coach Csaba Laszlo.
Kingston along with three high-earning players of Hearts were told on Thursday that their expiring contract will not be renewed because of dire financial constraints.
The financial constraints at a club whose debt recently rose by £4million to £35m would have rocketed further if Kingston, Christian Nade, Jose Goncalves and Michael Stewart were allowed to stay.
Despite leaving the club, Kingston insists there is huge potential on the playing the field along with the massive support the players get from ‘fantastic fans’.
“Obviously I am sad to be leaving a club that so close to me. Hearts was a club I supported in Ghana and to play for Hearts of Scotland is a great honour,†Kingston told Ghanasoccernet.com on Friday.
“To club’s fans and management I am very grateful for the support they gave me during my stay and I know Hearts will continue to grow.
“There are many many talents in the club who will step up to wear the club’s jersey with pride.
“To coach Jefferies I am also eternally grateful for having the trust in me and helping me to repair my relationship with the fans.
“When the previous coach Mr Csaba was there the fans were made to believe one part of a story. There is another side but you can fight your coach so I decided to keep quiet. Now they know the truth.
“It’s sad I am leaving and also did not get the opportunity to saying a fitting good bye to the fans. The standing ovation the last really touched me and I am grateful.â€
Kingston is part of Ghana’s squad at the World Cup that starts training in France on 24 May.
