Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo is looking forward to UD Ibiza’s Spanish Copa del Rey showdown against Barcelona.

The Sea Blue outfit have been drawn against giants FC Barcelona in the third round of the Copa del Rey.

The draw is one of football’s David and Goliath affairs, but Sibo believes it is a challenge he and his teammates are relishing to face.

“Personally, it's a dream for me to be part of such a great achievement, for myself and for the club. It was one of the happiest days of my life and I put my name in Ibiza club history. Incredible achievement that we qualified for in the 1/16 phase of the Copa del Rey. I was very proud of myself, proud to be part of that family that achieved something so great.”

The draw has put us in front of Barcelona, one of the biggest club in football history. It seems like a dream come true, to play against names like Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and many other stars.

Sibo was quizzed if they are ready for the challenge, he said, “Yes, it is certainly a dream come true. I'll play against the big players, just like you mentioned. I'm very prepared for this challenge, as well as the team. We're here after writing the story, we want to write another story for ourselves, for the fans, for the citizenry.”

“Everyone is looking forward to this challenge. Our focus at the moment is on tomorrow's match against Las Palmas and we will get the matches one by one,” concluded the Ghanaian midfielder.

The Copa del Rey has a new format and means that all matches will be played in a single-match format until the competition reaches the semi-final stage.

Sibo joined the Spanish lower-tier side on a season-long loan deal from English Premier League side Watford in the summer.

He spent half of last season at Albanian club KF Skënderbeu where he made 16 appearances with an assist during his loan spell.

His contract with Watford will end in 2022.
