The Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has accused the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, Mr Isaac Asiamah of being a major stumbling block to the progress of sports development in the country.

According to him, Mr Asiamah, who was the ranking member for youth and sports sits on the Sports Committee in parliament but worked against any move aimed at bringing change to the sector.

Addressing the Nhyiaeso constituency parliamentary campaign launch of the NDC’s candidate, Mr Samuel Sarpong in Kumasi, the sports minister did not give specifics to back his accusation except to herald his accusation with antics by dancing to Shatta Wale's "Mahama Paper."

He however called on sports loving people in the Ashanti region to ensure that Mr Asiamah did not win his Atwima Mponua seat again, his reason was that he would thwart the efforts of sports progress in the law making House come 2017.

The sports minister who is also the MP for Odododiodoo constituency in Accra said Mr Asiamah always behaved like he was for progress but supports those messing Ghanaian sports and later turn around to behave as though he did not know anything about it.

Nii Vanderpuye has been having running battles with the Ghana Football Association, especially with the management committee of the Ghana Black Stars.
