Ghana's sports ministry denies insisting on Stevanovic stay

Ghana's ministry of sports has denied asking the local federation to retain Goran Stevanovic as the coach of the Black Stars.

Some media outfits had reported that the minister Clement Kofi Humado had asked the Ghana Football Association to retain the Serbian trainer.

But the ministry says it has no hands in a decision to be taken by the executive committee of the GFA.

"The report on the minister asking the GFA to take a particular decision is not accurate," Akwasi Sarpong, spokesman for the sports ministry said.

"We have been informed about the discussions going on in the executive committee. Our role is to support their decision and not to take a decision for them."

There is intense media speculation in Ghana that Stevanovic has been fired as the coach of the Black Stars.
