Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey took to the field for the first time this season in the FC Sion shirt in a league game on Saturday after French side Sochaux resolved their outstanding financial issues with the Swiss side.

Sochaux reported Sion to FIFA over an outstanding $1 million transfer fee included in a deal that saw the player switch from the Montbelliard club to Tourbillon last season.

However, after a couple of weeks of deadlock the two clubs reached an amicable solution to allow the 24-year-old begin his season.

Yartey joined the Sion squad for training for the first time in the pre-season on Thursday and impressed manager Frédéric Chassot who included him in his squad and started him in a tight game against Grasshoppers that ended in a goalless stalemate.

"I trained only two days before the game and I was picked to start and I feel it was a good start and return to action," Yartey told GHANAsoccernet.com.

The 2007 Ghana U17 star winger who has one Ghana senior call-up, lasted till the hour mark before he was replaced by Fedele.

Meanwhile attacker Ebenezer Assifuah's return to action has been delayed due to recovery complications and did not play in the game.
