Baah in Champs Lge heartache as Helsinki fall to Apoel Nicosia
Gideon Baah came on in the second half

Gideon Baah’s HJK Helsinki crashed out of this season’s UEFA Champions League following a 2-0 defeat at Apoel Nicosia on Wednesday night.

The Ghanaian defender came on at the start of the second half to replace Mika Vayrynen but the harm had already been done.

Two first half goals from Cillian Sheridan and Tomas De Vincenti had done more than enough damage to end the Finish champions’ campaign in this season’s continental contest.

HJK had played out a 2-2 with Apole in the first leg encounter played in Helsinki.

Their 2-0 defeat on Wednesday night therefore means they exit the third qualifying stage on a 4-2 aggregate scoreline to the Cypriot giants.

HJK will now have to make do with their drop down to the Europa League where they must play in the qualifiers to make it into the group stage.
