Goalkeeper Dauda apologises for Ghana’s AFCON flop

Published on: 12 February 2013

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda wants fans to forgive them after their disappointing performance at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars could not better the fourth place finish chalked at the 2012 finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea with another fourth place feat.

The first choice gloves man and his teammates have been severely criticized by fans back home for their nondescript display in South Africa.

"We went into the competition with the intention of winning it, but only God know why we couldn't," the AshantiGold shot-stopper told Kumasi-based Fox FM

"I know that Ghanaians are very sad because of this and so I wish to apologise and I ask Ghanaians to forgive us."

Dauda was one of Ghana's best performers at the tournament as he convinced all and sundry about his goalkeeping exploits.
