MTN FA Cup awards

Gold Stars striker Elvis Opoku wants to win the flagship MTN FA Cup Best Player in addition to his top scorer’s prize to complete a fruitful season.

The young striker will be decorated with the top scorer’s award after scoring seven goals in four matches in this season’s competition.

Opoku has also been nominated in the best player category where he will be coming up against the likes of Bechem United’s Augustine Okrah and Asante Kotoko duo Issa Yakubu and Abeiku Ainooson.

He is however confident of bagging a double on the night of the awards to complete a memorable season in the knockout competition.

"The season has not been bad at all and I am glad for my efforts to be recognized with these nominations [in the FA Cup]," he told Hot FM.

"I played four matches and scored four goals and therefore clearly I deserve the goal king award due to my superior goal tally.

"I now hope to win the best player award to complete my clean sweep of awards in the FA Cup."
