Guantanamo Bay prisoners support Ghana in major football tournaments and inmates were thrown into wild jubilation when the Black Stars defeated America 2-1 at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, with former inmates of the notorious prison revealing that the prisoners.

In a startling revelation two terror suspects, who have been relocated to Ghana from Guantanamo Bay by the American government disclosed how they taunted their captors and poked fun at their interrogators when the Black Stars win the match that took the West Africans to the quarter-final of the tournament.

A strike by Asamoah Gyan in extra-time of the game steered Ghana to the last eight of the global competition and unknowing to players of the Black Stars suspected hardened terrorists in far flung places like Guantanamo Bay celebrated the victory to vigour.

In the shocking revelation, two terror suspects, who have been relocated to Ghana from Guantanamo Bay by the American government revealed how far football has taken the country's name including prisons.

Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby, the suspected terrorists, have arrived in Ghana where they will stay for two years after being released from the prison

“We are really happy for the warm reception that Ghana has given us. I like Ghanaian people because they are very good people, they are very polite," Muhammad Bin Atef said on arrival in Ghana.

"We are very very excited to come here because we know some of the things about Ghana. First of all is Asamoah Gyan, we know him, we like him very much.

"Even a lot of [the] detainees … like Ghanaians and as I told someone here [earlier], in 2010 [during] the World Cup, most of the people there [Guantanamo Bay] – I can say all of us – we were with Ghana and when Ghana beat America, we were very happy.

"We were dancing when Ghana won the game against USA and we were dancing in front of the guards and interrogators. We were all very happy."
