BRISTOL, ENGLAND -- Pep Guardiola admitted he was delighted to reach his first final as Manchester City manager after they secured a place at Wembley in the Carabao Cup with a 5-3 aggregate victory over Bristol City.
The Catalan coach finished his first season without a trophy but took a major step towards his first silverware with a 3-2 win away to the Championship side.
But Guardiola warned his side that they need to keep control of games after letting the Robins back into the match when they let a 2-0 lead slip.
"We are so happy to be there, to reach this final. We played an amazing game until 2-0 and then we lost control, these type of games never end until the end," he said.
"This is a lesson for next weekend in Cardiff in the FA Cup and especially for the Champions League.
"At 2-0 we knew it would be easier because they needed three or four goals but with one minute left it was 2-2 and anything could happen.
"It's not for me, it's for Manchester City, a club who are trying to reach another level. We try to keep going, the important thing for me is to be there. We try to keep going in the FA Cup, in the Premier League.
"I know that we will be judged by trophies we win but we are so happy. Nobody can take away what we have done, but Chelsea or Arsenal are strong teams."

Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero had put City ahead on the day before Bristol City pulled the game back to 2-2.
But Kevin De Bruyne scored the winner with the final kick of the game the day after signing a new five-year deal with the club.
Guardiola said he was delighted that the Belgium international had committed his future to the club following contract extensions for David Silva, Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi.
"You cannot imagine what a terrific week it is for us," he added. "Silva, Nico, Fernandinho, yesterday it was Kevin. These four players are so important for us.
"I'm so happy for us that these four players and Kevin is the last one of those four but is so important."
Bristol City boss Lee Johnson was proud of his side, who had already knocked out four Premier League sides on the way to the semifinals, including Manchester United.
But he admitted that the Premier League side had a little too much quality.
"I'm very proud of the club, it's been fantastic, It came to an end, but they were the better side, a fantastic side with real quality and a fantastic coach," he told a news conference.
"It's taken them two injury time goals to beat us. We showed our spirit, we're a very good side.
"We're disappointed of course -- we wanted to give the fans a cup final -- but I hope City go on and win the tournament."
