Pep Guardiola has defended Manchester City's celebrations following the derby victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford and said they were "definitely not" over the top.
Sources have told ESPN FC that City's celebrations after their 2-1 derby win were "very vocal" and accompanied by loud music, prompting a confrontation between players and staff from both clubs.
The Football Association has written to United and City to seek their observations over a tunnel bust-up at the end of Sunday's clash.
Speaking at a news conference ahead of City's match against Swansea on Wednesday, Guardiola said: "I am the man who encouraged them to celebrate. We try to celebrate, because when we lose we try to accept the defeat, but when we win we celebrate.
"We celebrate in the right moments, for example we celebrated in Napoli."
City's win at United extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 11 points and continued their unbeaten start to the domestic season.
