Gyan claims Danny Welbeck still has soft spot for Ghana

Ace striker Asamoah Gyan has revived Ghana's chase for Danny Welbeck by claiming the 20-year-old still loves the West African country.

Welbeck, on loan at Sunderland, accepted a late call-up from England manager Fabio Capello and featured for the Three Lions against Ghana in a friendly in March.

He is however eligible to play for the 2010 Fifa World Cup quarter-finalists if he does not feature for England again in a competitive match.

Gyan has revealed there are faint hopes his former team mate could play for the Black Stars.

"I  spoke to Welbeck. He loves Ghana but having spent all his life in the UK makes it difficult for him to return to play for us," Gyan said.

Welbeck was born in Manchester to Ghanaian parents and has previously featured for England's youth teams.
