Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is fully fit to play in their derby clash against Newcastle in the English Premier League on Saturday, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Ghanaian attacker fell awkwardly during the Premier League clash against Liverpool which ended 1-1 last week.

Gyan was helped off the field in the 66th minute and could not return to continue the game which prompted fears of a serious injury.

But the Black Cats striker has exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com he is fit for the game to be played at the Stadium of Light.

"It was not a serious injury. It was a knock but the coach decided to take me off as a precautionary measure," Gyan told GHANAsoccernet.com on Friday.

"I am fully fit to face Newcastle and the fans should be assured that we will give off our best in Saturday's game."

Gyan is Sunderland's leading striker.
