Gyan major doubt for Blackburn tie

Record-signing Asamoah Gyan is major doubt for Sunderland's Barclays Premier League clash with Blackburn.

The Ghana striker came off Tuesday's shock 0-2 defeat at home to Blackpool clutching his hamstring.

Gyan's latest injury adds to the Black Cats growing list of players in the infirmary which includes John Mensah (ankle), Lee Cattermole (back), Nedum Onuoha (hamstring), Michael Turner and Fraizer Cambell with knee problems.

However Danny Welbeck is expected to be fit for Saturday's clash after suffering from slight neck pains.
