Gyan named in CAN best XI

Striker Asamoah Gyan is the only Ghana player to be named among the best eleven stars at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Three Black Stars players were among the best substitutes for the tournament after finishing secong in the Angola competition.

Goalkeeper Richard Kingston, playmaker Kwadwo Asamoah and youngster Andre Ayew were among the substitutes.

Gyan was named the best striker for the tournament even though Gedo of Egypt was the highest scorer.

The top eleven was domninated by Egyptian players who had five player in the list while Angola had two with Ghana Cameroon and Nigeria completing the line-up.

The naming of the four Ghanaians in the best players' list is a huge boost for the confidence of the youngsters ahead of the World Cup in June.

This decision has all but sealed their places at the tournament in South Africa.

After a meeting hours before the final of the Nations cup, the Technical Committee of CAF selected the best eleven players of the tournament.

Members of this committee are Hussein Abdel Moneim, technical director of CAF, Ben Kouffie (Gha), Chief Onigbinde (Ngr), Anthony Baffoe (Gha), Noser Fathy (Egy) and Maalouch Belhassan (Tun)
