Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will be competing for his first silverware of the season as Al Ain takes on Al Jazira in the UAE Super Cup match on Monday.

The 26-year-old who won the Goal King award after bagging 22 goals last season will also be looking to open his account for the new campaign.

Gyan is fresh from leading Ghana to victory over Malawi in the first leg of the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier.

He could have missed the subsequent Black Stars friendly game with Liberia three days later but for the postponement of the Super Cup match.

The former Udinese, Rennes and Sunderland hitman must now prove he is not just a one-season wonder by following up on an impressive debut season in the UAE Pro League where he helped Al Ain clinch their 10th topflight title.

Kickoff time for the Super Cup game between Al Ain and Al Jazira is at 15:00 GMT.
