A second string Ghana side coasted to a 2-0 first half lead in their friendly against Congo in Brazzaville on Tuesday as the Black Stars warmed up for Saturday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying against Rwanda.

Debutant Daniel Nii Adjei and striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom put the Black Stars in control of the game with strikes that confounded the Congolese.

Nii Adjei got his Black Stars career off to dream start when he fired the visiting side into the lead following his late invitation to the side from his DR Congo side TP Mazembe.

Adjei was invited following the injury to Godfred Donsah and proved his worth by giving the four-time African champions the lead despite the early first half pressure by the home side.

Excellent defending by AshGold captain Lawrence Lartey supported by experienced Edwin Gyimah and Baba Rahman and captain Harrison Afful kept the Congolese at bay until Yiadom struck to extend the lead.
