Hamburg, Werder Bremen bid for Ghana striker Waris

Posted On Thursday, 30th August 2012

Abdul Majeed Waris is wanted by Hamburg and Werder Bremen

German Bundesliga duo Hamburg and Werder Bremen have officially tabled bids to sign Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris, according to reports in Sweden.

Another unnamed club is reported to have also made an offer to secure the services of the leading scorer in the Swedish top-flight.

Waris has scored a total of 17 goals in all competitions for BK Hacken.

The 21-year-old could allowed to leave the Rambergsvallen with the emergence of his compatriot Nasiru Mohammed who recently joined the club.

Mohammed bagged in a double on his first team debut in last week’s win over leaders Elfsborg in the league.

Waris has been named in Ghana’s 24-man squad to play Malawi and Liberia next month.

In June, French side Saint Etienne together with Serie A outfit Catania watched Waris but a deal could not be reached for his transfer.

  1. Ghanas Son says:

I am happy we are now unearthing strikers!! It’s been over a decade without a substantial striker apart from UAE based Asamoah Gyan. I can only thank God and wish Waris the best in his career and hope he will become very useful and valuable for Ghana Black Stars.

  2. Lee says:

A very determined and a courageous player, very hungry for goals anytime he plays. He is making it on his own without any support from Ghana like some players are enjoying today.
He is going to be a big star and our future goal king. At 20 years, many clubs are talking and watching his progression. Wishing you all the best Warris, we love you.
