Harrison Afful determined to star for Ghana at Nations Cup

Harrison Afful in action for Espernace

Ghana defender Harrison Afful says he wants to make a huge impact at the 2013 Africa Cup Nations.

The versatile Esperance player is determined to play a starring role for the Black Stars who are chasing their first African title since 1982.

Afful was surprisingly left out of Ghana’s squad for the 2012 tournament despite scoring the only goal which secured the 2011 CAF Champions League title for his Tunisian side.

But he has been named in Kwesi Appiah’s preliminary 26-man squad and remains a sure bet to make the final cut to South Africa.

“I must say the last two seasons have been good for me and I feel very confident now to play in a highly competitive tournament like the Nations Cup,” Afful told MTNFootball.com.

“I was not the last Nations Cup but I wasn’t disturbed because I know my time will come. I’m looking forward to the tournament.

“The coach has faith in us and we also have confidence in him as well so it will be a nice tournament for us.”

good confidence afful but im surprised nobody is talking about warris.IM VERY SHOCKED.sweden goal-king paa.
for me warris wasnt given enuff time to prove himself.anybody who saw the cape verde game could see that the midfielders realy let him down especially derek owusu boateng who lost every ball in midfield.
    lets hope the stars deliver

  5. Papa Nkrumah says:

Don’t worry about making a “huge impact” at the AFCON. All that we need you to do is to keep the back tight and tidy at all times. Just do your work and leave the dramatic action to the midfielders and strikers

  6. Maxwell Johnson says:

Afful is yet to convince me in the BS set up, he should rather be a backup not a starter.
