Heart of Lions-Asante Kotoko match rained-off

Published on: 02 May 2011

Heart of Lions' league encounter against Asante Kotoko was postponed after heavy downpours in the second half despite losing 1-2.

The first half ended goalless but Kotoko took the lead through joint top scorer Nathaniel Asamoah.

Lions responded just after that with the equalizer from midfielder Gladson Awako and was quickly regained the lead with Daniel Nii Adjei's goal.

The rain-soaked pitch made football impossible and so the centre-referee called off the match.

Immediately after the referee's decision, the rains subdued and Kotoko officials called for the match to be continued but that was rejected.

The match day 26 fixture will be played tomorrow (Thursday).
