Hearts of Oak insist they have not been affected by the citing of their board member Ivy Heward-Mills in the judicial bribery scandal.

The High Court judge who serves as a director on the board of the Phobians is facing serious sanctions after she was caught on video produced by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas taking an alleged bribe influence her verdict.

Heward-Mills in the video which was premiered at the Accra International Conference Center earlier this week took an initial amount of GHS 800.00 before receiving a top up of GHS 300.00 in alleged bribe payments.

She and 11 other High Court judges have since been suspended pending further investigations by the Judicial Service in the bribery scandal which has rocked Ghana’s entire judicial system to its core.

But Hearts of Oak’s Administrative Manager Hackman Aidoo says the club has not taken a direct hit by this development.

“The club is not really affected since this is an entirely separate matter,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“A lot of people don’t even know that she [Ivy Heward-Mills] is a board member of the club so things remain normal.”

The club’s board will however be discussion options of relieving the implicated High Court judge off her duties as a member of the board of directors at its next meeting.

“The board will be meeting in the coming days and I know definitely that though her issue is not part of the agenda, it will be treated under other matters,” Aidoo added.

“Until the board comes out with a decision, I am unable to comment further on this issue.”

Ivy Heward-Mills emerged as one of the a very few individuals to have acquired a massive chunk of the club’s shares that was put up for sale a few years back to secure her a seat on the board of directors chaired by majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV.
