Hearts of Oak admit they are taking a big risk with the signing of winger Latif Salifu.

The former Berekum Chelsea forward has signed a three-year contract to join the Phobians.

Salifu becomes the first signing of Hearts who endured a difficult campaign in the Premier League last term.

But the former Ghana U20 player has not played active football in a long while due to injury.

There are thus subtle fears he would not be able to return to his best of forms to help the Phobians in the upcoming season.

And Hearts Administrative Manager Hackman Aidoo though giving assurance the player they’ve signed is medically fit, admits they are taking a gamble on him.

“There are always risk when you sign a player whether he is top form or not,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We know he [Latif Salifu] has some issues with injuries but we have been assured by doctors that he is fine.

“Yes, his signing is a risk but we believe we have made the right choice by bringing him to the club and hope he can go on to justify the confidence we’ve reposed in him.”
