Former National Division One League chairman Ntwo Fianko reckons the duopoly of Kotoko and Hearts are over, insisting emerging clubs have become more powerful.

The two Ghanaian clubs have flattered to deceive in recent years with Hearts the biggest hit as they have remained trophyless since 2009.

The two teams have been made to play catch-ups to the likes of Aduana Stars, Medeama, Berekum Chelsea, Wa All Stars and West African Football Academy.

It appears the golden era for the two teams are over as other emerging forces have become competitive due to their huge financial warchest.

And former Division One League chief Ntow Fianko says the two teams must accept their dominance are over.

‘’Hearts and Kotoko will find it difficult to wake up again because of competition from the smaller clubs,’’ he told Space FM.

‘’Their old way to acquiring players is now outmoded and there is no way they can steal players and hide them somewhere as they used to do in the past.

"Hearts used to get players from Great Olympics but now it’s not like that. Kotoko were taken players from B.A United, Bofoakwa and Cornerstone but how is the situation now? he quizzed

‘’Again, previously they had the opportunity or ways to sending players to abroad but now obviously, the smaller clubs have links in abroad than Kotoko and Hearts.

‘Even now people are not willing to pump money in Hearts and Kotoko as it used to be.’’

Both teams are locked on 20 points respectively with Hearts lying fourth while their sworn-rivals are 5th on the table.
