Hearts of Oak board chairman Togbe Afede XIV has revealed he was not heavily involved in the appointment of coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

The renowned economist claims he has been widely insulted in the club’s decision to hand the substantive coaching job to the Japanese.

Kenichi Yatsuhashi emerged as a surprise appointment for Hearts especially with his unknown clout in coaching.

Critics including former chairman Harry Zakkour who described the new coach as a ‘Toyota engineer’.

But board chairman Togbe Afede XIV revealed he was nowhere involved in the decision to appoint the Japanese until the final moments in his appointment.

“When coach Kenichi was appointed I had all the insults, I was in America!” he revealed at the club’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.

“I was in America when they sent me coach Kenichi’s presentation. I have it here.

“It was sent to me when I was in America, I knew him from nowhere.

“I had this presentation in America, forwarded to me by the MD.

“This is the philosophy that he used to endear himself to the board.”
