New Hearts of Oak captain Mahatma Otoo says the players are determined to win this season’s Premier League title.

The former African champions have had no joy in the Ghanaian top flight since 2009 when they last won the Premier League.

The Phobians’ woe was further deepened by the league success of rivals Asante Kotoko in the last campaign.

This has seen a heightened crave for Premier League success this term especially from the supporters’ front and the newly installed captain says the team is ready to make the fans happy again.

“I have spoken to all the players and we have resolved to win the Premier League title this season,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“It has been three season now that we have not had Premier League joy and last time our rivals Asante Kotoko won it.

“Our fans therefore want us to win it this time and we as players are determined to make them happy by winning the league.

“The team is now very competitive as no one has a position yet so I believe this will help us in the long run to achieve the objective of winning the league.”

Hearts open their 2013/14 season account with an away trip to the Tema Park to take on Tema Youth on October 7.
