Hearts captain Thomas Abbey says big win over Bechem United helped them in AshantiGold downfall

Captain of Hearts of Oak Thomas Abbey says their emphatic victory over Bechem United in midweek played a big role in their week 11 away win against AshantiGold on Saturday.

Three consecutive away defeats had thrown the Phobians league title ambitions in tatters, but Paul Acquah's 73rd minute strike brought that run to an end with a vital three points at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

And Abbey, who was adjudged the best player of the game attributed the team's scintillating performance to their midweek 4-2 thrashing of Bechem United.

"We thank God for the victory. I believe the catalyst for this win was the 4-2 win we recorded against Bechem United on Wednesday, " Abbey told reporters.

The win takes Hearts to 4th on the standings with 18 points while AshantiGold maintain their 15th position with 8 points after match day 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
