Hearts of Oak coach Herbert Addo says he will revive the flagging career of expensive player Kofi Abanga after the midfielder had a season to forget last term.
The midfielder, who joined the Phobians in 2008 after a long tussle with arch rivals Kotoko, was expected to be among the 13 players axed by the Accra-based giants.
That is because he was not impressive last season and was expected to make way for new players to boost the Phobians who are keen on winning the title.
Injuries have not also helped Abanga's cause as he struggled to stay fit since joining Hearts of Oak from Aduana.
But after observing the midfielder in training in the pre-season, coach Addo insists he can revive the career of the player as he has got some special qualities.
“Abanga is a special breed when it comes to players and for his kind, it’s difficult to duplicate. He is a very good player, no doubt, but he also comes with something extra that only good coaches will know and identify," coach Herbert Addo, who recently signed for the Accra side said.
"As for injuries, they are part of a footballer’s life and I believe that once that is out of the way, we can all help restore Abanga to his former self.â€
Hearts are looking to win the league title this season as their arch rivals Kotoko have dominated the scene for the past three seasons.
