Hearts coach Akunnor hails five-star display

Posted On Monday, 15th October 2012

CK Akunnor is pleased with his side's style of play

Hearts of Oak coach C K Akunnor has praised his side’s effort in their 5-2 drubbing of New Edubiase United in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Phobians produced a stunning performance to trounce the Bekwai-based side as striker Mahatma Otoo hit the first hat-trick of the season.

Akunnor’s men had to resist a stubborn Edubiase fight-back to book their first win of the season at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Defender Godwin Osei Bonsu and Mahatma Otoo scored in the last six minutes of the first half to put Hearts 2-0 up.

But Edubiase returned from the recess to equalise all two goals through Adam Basit and Bernard Ofori.

Captain Otoo completed his treble by scoring twice before new signing Nuru Sulley scored the fifth on the stroke of full-time.

Akunnor expressed satisfaction with his side’s play after their drawing in their opener.

“Hearts is a strong side; they possess the ball very well and we didn’t want Edubiase to play their normal game,” he said in the post-match interview.

“Whether we would score five goals I wouldn’t be able to tell you before the match. We manage to win and we are happy that is it.”

Hearts are now in second on the Ghana Premier League table; two points behind leaders Medeama.

Great show, Hearts and C K Akunnor.

  2. joyee osei says:

Watch ur defense. It is porous. NOT STRONG as it used to be. Why do u like talking after every match ? U talk too much.

  3. KT says:

I agree with you Osei. The defense is very porous. They gave Sammy Adjei hell yesterday, and he couldn’t seem to control them too.

  4. Saxcee says:

    @osei you’re very ignorant.
Coaches all over the world make post match comment. For the fact that he has defensive probs doesn’t mean he should keep mute.
    Hail C.K

    • joyee osei says:

Im not ignorant but just consider the number of times he has come out to comment on unimportant things. I ve come out on number of times.

    • Abrantie-In Da House says:

With this one, I have to support Saxcee on his point here (but not for calling people names though). C.K also made sure of talking about just this match and not talking about the ultimate and bla bla bla like most ghanaian coaches do.

  5. coconutman says:

Coach Appiah, keep an eye on Mahatma Otoo, remember he is the guy that captained your local Black Stars on a come back from an early poor showing to win the African championship in S Africa a few years ago.

BREAKING NEWS: SOUTH AFRICA, GHANA, IVORY COAST AND THE zaNbians HAVE BEEN POTTED BY CAF AHEAD OF THE DRAW TO THE 2013 AFCON

  7. PENDRIVE says:

This is Ghana Murinho. Keep it up my coach.

  8. SETH says:

What is wrong with CK’s comment? @ Osei the defense is not porous as u think. Yes I agree, that Owusu Seth guy was terrible Yesterday at the right back. But that guy is battling with injury of which in my opinion should have been benched by CK but hey u know players and their deceits, he is a new player and wants a place in the 1st 11 so had to hide the injury.
And again he is one player any coach will find it difficult to bench him cos of his exploit at Medeama. He is a fantastic player by all stantdard. i think he must be made to recover fully like they are doing to Fiamenyo.
But by and large the guys did well. That guy who is partening Osei Bonsu, guys I tell u the guy is just too good.
KUDOS BOYs FOR MAKING US PROUD YES;DAY.
