Hearts of Oak’s spokesman Muheeb Saeed has dismissed reports the club borrowed money from Harrison Afful to augment their funds in their CAF Confederation Cup match against Esperance.

The Phobians are reported to have secured an undisclosed sum of money from the Ghana defender during their stay in Tunis for the first leg of their ultimate Confederation Cup qualifier.

Hearts according to these reports promised to pay the money back with interest to Afful at an undisclosed date.

The side is rumoured to have endured some financial challenges in their trip to Tunis to face Esperance almost a fortnight ago.

This thus resulted in members of the traveling Hearts delegation to seek financial assistance from the Ghana defender who plays for Esperance.

But club spokesman Muheeb Saeed has dismissed these reports – insisting Hearts did not borrow money from any firm or any individual for their African campaign.

“We didn’t borrow money. There is a standing arrangement with SAS to fund Hearts of Oak,” he told Kasapa FM.

“Never did we borrow money from any individual including Harrison Afful.”

Hearts team manager Sabahn Quaye has however confirmed receiving an undisclosed amount of money and luggage from Harrison Afful meant to be handed over to his wife in Ghana.
