Asante Kotoko legend Wilberforce Mfum claims Hearts of Oakââ¬â¢s desperation for victory will cost their downfall in Ghanaââ¬â¢s biggest Premier League fixture on Sunday.
Hearts face the unenviable task of trying to halt Kotokoââ¬â¢s Premier League title charge with boss C.K Akonnor aware a defeat could spell the end of their title hopes if the Kumasi-based club emerges triumphant.
Both sides go into the encounter on the heels of impressive results chalked last weekend in the top-flight and that has heightened expectations amongst some obsessive soccer fans.
While coach C.K Akonnor guided the capital-based club to record a comfortable 3-0 win over All Stars, Kotoko came from a goal down to beat struggling Wassaman United 3-1 to set the tone for a mouth-watering encounter.
Hearts have an impressive away record at Kumasi but the ex-Asante Kotoko star insists that will be halted.
ââ¬ÅWe have had our minds on Hearts for a very long time and I can assure our fans that weââ¬â¢re ging to beat them no matter what,â⬠Mfum said
ââ¬ÅThey (Hearts) are a good side but I believe weââ¬â¢re playing better and with the kind of team spirit that we have at the moment, they canââ¬â¢t stop us.
ââ¬ÅEven though they do well anytime they play in Kumasi, the odds are stuck against them and therefore urges our supporters to troop to the stadium to enjoy the goals,ââ¬
Hearts trail the league leaders by ten-points.
