Asante Kotoko legend Wilberforce Mfum claims Hearts of Oak’s desperation for victory will cost their downfall in Ghana’s biggest Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Hearts face the unenviable task of trying to halt Kotoko’s Premier League title charge with boss C.K Akonnor aware a defeat could spell the end of their title hopes if the Kumasi-based club emerges triumphant.

Both sides go into the encounter on the heels of impressive results chalked last weekend in the top-flight and that has heightened expectations amongst some obsessive soccer fans.

While coach C.K Akonnor guided the capital-based club to record a comfortable 3-0 win over All Stars, Kotoko came from a goal down to beat struggling Wassaman United 3-1 to set the tone for a mouth-watering encounter.

Hearts have an impressive away record at Kumasi but the ex-Asante Kotoko star insists that will be halted.

“We have had our minds on Hearts for a very long time and I can assure our fans that we’re ging to beat them no matter what,” Mfum said

“They (Hearts) are a good side but I believe we’re playing better and with the kind of team spirit that we have at the moment, they can’t stop us.

“Even though they do well anytime they play in Kumasi, the odds are stuck against them and therefore urges our supporters to troop to the stadium to enjoy the goals,”

Hearts trail the league leaders by ten-points.
