Hearts fight back to secure vital home win over Lions

Hearts of Oak fought from a goal down to beat visiting Heart of Lions 2-1 in a Ghana Premier League game on Sunday. 

Kweku Andoh drew first blood for Lions in the 18th minutes but Mahatma Otoo and Joseph Mugre scored in either halves to claim victory for the host.

The Phobians have now stretched their unbeaten run in domestic games to seven.

The hosts were shocked when Kweku Andoh glanced home a header in the 18th minute to put the 'Giants Killers' ahead before an expectant crowd at the Accra Sports Stadium.

But a revived a Hearts side never gives up at such early stage.

In-form striker Mahatma Otoo equalized for Hearts with a superb thunderbolt that sailed unstoppably into Nana Bonsu's net in the 27th minute.

Hearts came close to taking the lead on a number of occasions but James Abban and Joseph Mugre wasted glorious chances.

After the break, Lions found themselves chasing shadows as Hearts stepped up their pursuit for that all important lead

The Phobians finally got that elusive lead through former Aduana Stars striker Joseph Mugre who combined well with Abban and Otoo.

The victory has sent Hearts further away from the drop zone as they move to 26 points and to tenth on the Ghana Premier League log.
