Hearts line up Akunnor for coaching job

Ex-Ghana captain CK Akunnor is on the verge being appointed the next coach of Hearts of Oak for the rest of the season, MTNFootball understands. 

Akunnor will be assisted by his former international team mate Yaw Preko and will be introduced to the team after Wednesday's Ghana Premier League match.

The ex-Wolfsburg captain returns to club management after being sacked by then top flight side Eleven Wise in January 2010.

He was assistant coach for the 2011 Ghana Under-17 who failed to qualify for the African Championship.

The 36-year-old is currently working as deputy Ghana Under-20 coach and a trainer at the renowned Right To Dream Academy in Ghana.

Hearts of Oak parted ways with Serbian trainer Nebojsa Vucicevic last Friday by mutual consent.

The club are nine points behind league leaders Asante Kotoko with 11 matches to the end of the season.
