Accra Hearts of Oak's new Ivorian hot-shot striker Edikeu Berenger is confident his performance for the Phobians will prove his quality after impressing in his first match for the club.

The 20-year-old, who spent four seasons with Georgian second division side LAZIKA FC, netted in the 4-0 rout of Africa United in a friendly match.

Berenger says he is happy with the way he was welcomed into the Hearts of Oak team, and believes his performance will do the talking when the league resumes next month.

Edikeu is pleased with the way his teammates, particularly his compatriot Robin Gnagne, have welcomed him into the team.

"I am happy with the way the players welcomed me when I first joined," Edikeu said.

"I am settling in quite well and I think I will be able to be of good help for the team.

"Robin [Gnagne] has been a good influence. He has done his very best to help me feel welcomed and we talk a lot. He described what I will see in the league and how the defenders play, and how I should play for the Club. I have been very grateful because all these have helped me to look forward to the league."

With the bulk of the team's goals coming from midfield in the first round of the season, Edikeu believes the addition of strikers Ezekiel Tetteh, Gerald Odupong and himself to complement Selasi Adjei and Gilbert Fiamenyo is a good thing for the Club.

"I know there are a lot of strikers in the team, which is a very good thing for the team because we can do the job better in my opinion," said Edikeu.

"But if we are only two or three and somebody gets injured, it will cause a lot of problems for the whole team; so our numbers is a good thing and it will also mean we have to fight hard to get starting places."

Edikeu added: "It is not going to be easy but I am here to help the team to move up the league table. I will do all my best to score the goals and help the team do well.

"I know the fans do not know me well, but I cannot say much about myself. I just want my performance to do the talking for me when the league resumes."
