Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo is devastated with the fresh injury blow to midfielder Thomas Abbey.

The talented youngster is reported to have suffered a broken leg during the 3-0 win over Amidaus Professionals on Sunday.

Coach Polo stayed behind at the Accra Sports Stadium to receive news on the injury after the player was taken to hospital.

The ex Ghana forward sobbed uncontrollably when told he will be without his influential midfielder for an extended period.

Polo feels hard-done by the news but hopes to inspire Abbey to make a quick recovery from his latest injury setback.

“It is a very big blow to the team and the player himself,” he told Metro FM.

“He is just returning from injury and he will definitely be down after this fresh setback.

“He is a player who gives his all when he is on the pitch and will feel very disappointed with this injury.

“But we will keep encouraging and motivating him to ensure he recovers quickly and comes back strongly.”

Abbey’s fresh setback piles up the injury woes of the Phobians ahead of their outstanding Premier League clash against Medeama on Wednesday.

Hearts are already without the services of Ashitey Ollenu, Kenneth Okoro and Obed Ansah.
