Hearts of Oak board chairman Togbe Afede XIV insists the club’s woes is not due to the failure to sign big-name players but ‘technical’.

The club’s top hierarchy has come under siege recently mainly from the fans for their failure to sign big name players ahead of the start of the new season.

Many of the disgruntled Hearts fans feel the club is set to struggle again as they did last season with the inability of management and the board to invest heavily once more again in strengthening the side.

But board chairman Togbe Afede in addressing these concerns of the fans at the club’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday says the problems facing the team is not lack of big-name players but ‘technical’ which he assures is being fixed.

“We’ve recruited so many players in the past that has given us nothing, shouldn’t we learn from that experience? We should learn!” he lamented.

“So we are taking our time and we are not rushing.

“We know that our past challenges have been mostly technical, not the players but technical.

“When we brought in someone like former captain of Hasaacas, Yamoah, he was former captain of Hasaacas.

“When we brought in Selassie, he was next to Mahatma in the goal king race. We brought in Fiamenyo, we brought in Laryea Kingston.

“We spent so much money on players in the past, we have not received the right results.

“We have identified our problem to be technical and we are focusing on that while we look at the players as well.

“We want players that will represent the future of Hearts of Oak.”
