Communication director of Hearts of Oak Kwame Opare Addo has cautioned supporters of the club to stop bad-mouthing Togbe Afede XIV.

Tobge Afede XIV acquired majority stake in the Accra-based club in 2011 through share flotation.

Since the traditional ruler took over the reins, the Phobians have gone nine years without winning any major trophy and some fans of the club have ascribed their inability to taste glory to the Asogli chief.

And in an interview with Class Sports, spokesman for the side, Opare Addo, warned their vociferous supporters to discontinue attacking the traditional ruler on the airwaves.

“In our own villages we respect our chiefs so why have you decided not to respect another chief from another town? That is not the nature of an African especially a Ghanaian," he said.

“We were made to respect every elderly person. So what has changed so much that you should be able to hit and hit at a chief who has done nothing wrong. The insults are not fair. He listens to everybody and he loves Hearts of Oak. He has a vision and he believes the club will move from its current state. Opare further charged fans to support Togbe Afede in order not to jeopardize Togbe’s good intentions for the club."

“For me, I think that rather than engaging in something that is not necessary, let us rather channel our efforts [into] pushing him so that he will have that peaceful mind to make sure that he develops Hearts of Oak. If the Pobiman project is successful, which I know very soon it will, what are we going to say? We need to push him because what he is doing now, how many individuals will sit back and pump money into the club? Let's help support him and I know things will change."
