Hearts of Oak set to seal Rashid Sumaila seal

Accra Hearts of Oak are on the verge of sealing a deal with one of Ghana's talented defenders Rashid Sumalia.

The Phobians are reported by Asempa FM to have reached a deal with his club Ebusua Dwarfs for the tough tackling player to move to the Accra-based side.

If the deal is completed it will be a major coup for Hearts who were in a tug-of-war with arch- rivals Asante Kotoko for the defender's signature.

The two biggest clubs in the West African country were interested in the strong centre-back who has excelled for his local club, sparking some intense bidding.

The impressive work-rate of the 19-year-old has seen him earn two call-ups into the Black Stars.

Reports claim officials of both club have made numerous overtures to lure the player who underwent trials at French outfit Lens last November.

Kotoko want to fortify their squad as they prepare for an expected busy schedule next season where they will play in the Caf Champions League.

Hearts also want to rebuild and believe the highly-talented defender will be a good addition to their set-up.

Sumaila came to prominence at the start of last season following his excellent performances for Ghana’s Under-23 side who won gold at the All Africa Games last September.
